Website design is all about consistency and efficiency. To facilitate this, our GOBI platform offers two powerful tools — Templates and Global Sections.
Templates allow you to establish a design blueprint that can be reused and tweaked for different sections across your site. Global Sections, on the other hand, are design elements that, once edited, automatically update across all instances on your website, ensuring uniformity where you need it most.
Now, let’s delve into a detailed guide on how to use these tools for effectively building out multiple pages and funnels.
Let’s begin with a simple header example. Suppose you have created a header with a logo on a black background and you want to use this same header on another page. To achieve this, you need to save this section. Hover over the section and click on the ‘Save Section’ button. You can save things either as a ‘Template’ or as a ‘Global Section’.
A ‘Template’ allows you to build the element on a page and edit it. In contrast, a ‘Global Section’, once edited, affects every page on your website where this section is implemented. To clarify this, let’s save our header as a ‘Global Section’ and observe what happens.
When we navigate to another page and decide to add another header, we can access our saved ‘Global Section’ under the ‘Section’ tab. Drag and drop it to the page and you will see the same header applied.
Now, let’s say we want to change the logo. When we update the logo and save, this change gets reflected across every webpage that uses this ‘Global Header’. This feature can be particularly useful for elements that repeat on your websites and funnels like headers and footers. Now, let’s consider we have a section that we want to use as a base design on other pages, but we also want to tweak it specifically for those pages. For situations like these, we can use the ‘Template’ option. Save the section as a ‘Template’ and give it a descriptive name. Then, if we navigate to another page and decide to add a similar section, we can find it under ‘My Layouts’.
The difference here compared to a ‘Global Section’ is that changes made to a ‘Template’ don’t affect all the other occurrences of that template on your website. Hence, it allows you to maintain a degree of uniformity across pages while also offering the flexibility to adapt the section to the specific needs of each page.
Lastly, within each page, if you like a section that you created, you can replicate it by hitting the ‘+’ button, making the process of building out your sites even easier and faster.
To summarize, ‘Global Sections’ and ‘Templates’ are extremely powerful tools that can enhance your efficiency when building out multiple pages and funnels on the GOBI platform.
With ‘Global Sections’, you can make changes quickly across all your website, and with ‘Templates’, you can create a base design and make unique adjustments for specific pages. Happy building!
